Sophie Saint Thomas is an award-winning journalist (Brooklyn Magazine 30 Under 30, High Times 100 Women in High Places) and six-time author in New York City. She grew up in the U.S. Virgin Islands and attended high school in Virginia. She continues to hold love for the islands and the South despite having lived in New York since 2010. Her writing, which focuses on sex, love, as well as drugs, recovery, and spirituality, can be found in Cosmopolitan, Playboy, GQ, Glamour, Marie Claire, PRIDE, VICE, Cosmopolitan, Harper’s Bazaar, and more.

Saint Thomas was Allure Magazine’s resident astrologer from 2019 to 2025. Earlier in her career, she worked as Refinery29’s sex staff writer.

When she first arrived in New York City, she worked in television for VH1’s iconic Behind the Music series as well as their “Rock Doc” music documentaries. Her adoration for pop culture continues to influence her work. When the department shuttered, she followed her true passion, writing, and turned her freelance work, which previously occupied her nights and weekends, into a full-time gig. She is now regarded as one of the most successful freelance writers working in New York City.

Her celebrity interviews include Amber Rose for GQ, Hari Nef for Allure, Angel Olsen for Nylon, and Chappell Roan for High Times.

After conquering the editorial world, she broke into publishing in 2019 with her debut book, Finding Your Higher Self: Your Guide to Cannabis for Self-Care. She then wrote its follow-up, The Little Book of CBD for Self-Care, followed by Sex Witch, Glamour Witch, and Weed Witch

She is also the co-creator of The Intimacy Journal: A Sex & Cannabis Log Book.

Her sixth book, Reproductive Rites: The Real-Life Witches and Witch Hunts in the Centuries-Long Fight for Abortion, came out in October. She pitched it immediately after Roe was overturned. It encompasses 4,000 years of history yet reads like a thriller. It is the hardest and best thing she’s ever done.
